About Us

Street promotion has been the heart and soul of Clockwork Productions.  Sarah S. earned her stripes doing promotion for some of the larger events in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states.  She learned that well-promoted events earned higher attendance, but also learned early on that the reputation of a production company could be quickly spoiled by producing an inferior event.  Based on this knowledge, Sarah made a point to only align herself with the most reputable companies.  This helped earn Sarah S. the reputation as being one of the most trustworthy promoters on the east coast.  If she recommended or promoted an event, it was bound to be among the best.

Some of these early events that Sarah S. promoted included Phato’s planetary series in upstate NY, as well as for Destiny in Toronto (including the well known World Electronic Music Festivals—WEMF).  Working with Phato Productions was particularly fruitful as Patrick Oot, Phato’s founder, involved Sarah S. in every part of production and promotion of his events.  This gave Sarah S. her first event planning and production training, and her involvement with this company spanned many years.

In 1997 Sarah S. officially formed Clockwork Productions and moved her base of operation from Buffalo, NY to the D.C./Baltimore area.  Sarah S. had already served as a promoter for some of the area’s largest events, but now she took on more involved roles within the local scene.  A promoter for Buzz since late 1995, Sarah S. was invited to a meeting with Buzz founder Scott Henry, who had taken notice of her hands-on approach to street promotion.  Buzz had seen lower attendance that spring, and Scott Henry and Lieven DeGeyndt (co-founder) did not have the time to handle promotion on their own.  Scott Henry offered Sarah S. the position of Director of Promotion, charging her with the task of building a local promotion team and she excitedly took up the challenge.

Clockwork Productions began to grow in earnest.  Attendance soared at Buzz, with crowds reaching 4,000 people, and the Clockwork Productions street team began to grow and mature.  Having a weekly event to serve as our base of operations allowed us the visibility and stability to venture out into other promotion projects.  Sarah S. had been promoting for and helping Ultraworld since 1995, but now had the street team to take on an even larger role.  Clockwork Productions began to handle all local promotion for Ultraworld.  This was a big job, as Ultraworld events often topped 10,000 people.  In 1998 Clockwork Productions served as the sole promotional force for Ultraworld’s “Energize” at the D.C. Armory.  Energize was a massive event and required an incredible effort on the part of our local and out of state promoters.  This event was certainly a crowning achievement, with attendance nearing 8,000 people.

In 1999, Fever returned to Baltimore.  Sarah S. had promoted Fever from 1995 to 1997, but now the legendary every-other-Thursday event was back in action.  Clockwork Productions took over promotion for this event as well, with Sarah S. at the helm as the Director of Promotion.  Sarah S. had always held a special affinity for the event and the venue.  In 2001 when Scott Henry and Charles Feelgood decided that Fever was too difficult to keep going with their other interests (DJing and Buzz for Scott, DJing and producing for Feelgood), they gave Sarah S. and Clockwork Productions their blessings to keep an event going at the venue.

In June of 2001 Clockwork Productions started the run of the every-other-Thursday event; Origin.  Origin was an incredible event, with an opening night attendance of over 1,300 people.  Origin featured nationally and internationally recognized DJs and artists, and featured an old-school vibe that lasted into the wee hours of the morning.  Origin continued its run until the unfortunate events of September 11 and the economic downturn that resulted eventually made continuing the event become unfeasible.

After a short break from the entertainment world, Clockwork Productions has recently relocated to Los Angeles, CA, where we hope to create new traditions and exciting events.  Stay tuned to this site for details!
